Lisa Guliano Named Erie DD Superintendent

Lisa GulianoSANDUSKY, Ohio (July, 16, 2010) – Lisa Guliano was named superintendent of the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities at Thursday's board meeting.

She will assume her new responsibilities Aug. 9.

Guliano replaces Jerry Plassenthal, who retired in March.

Guliano, 47, brings ten years of experience in the field of developmental disabilities to the position. She is currently director of finance for the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

"I can't wait to get started," said Guliano. "I'm looking forward to getting to Erie County and getting to know the staff and the individuals and families supported by the board. I'm very excited about this opportunity."

Guliano resides in Ashland, Ohio. She will be moving to Erie County as part of her new contract.

Guliano, who is a registered nurse, began her career in developmental disabilities as the nursing coordinator at the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities in 2000.

"I didn't start out seeking a career in the developmental disabilities field, but my passion for the work developed after I began working at Richland County," Guliano said. "Now, I can hardly imagine working in any other field."

She also served as assistant director and director of residential services in Richland County before being named director of finance in 2008.

“We conducted an extensive search for our new superintendent, and we are thrilled to have found someone with Lisa’s qualifications and skills," said Donald Sieg, president of the Erie County Board of Developmental Disabilities. "We believe Lisa's skill set melds nicely with the short- and long-term goals of the board. We have every confidence that she will lead this agency in a positive direction and provide quality services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Erie County”.

Guliano earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Akron and a master's degree in business administration, executive management, from Ashland University. She earned her superintendent's certification from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities in 2006.
